A teaching profession is one of the dynamic and never ending professions in the whole world. The worldwide statistics for the requirement for teachers has never shown down line and has always been rising. Teaching courses are for those university and college students who want to pursue a course in teaching and want to make it their profession. These teaching courses can be divided into two broad categories ie Elementary teaching courses and Secondary teaching courses.
The major goals in elementary teaching or primary education, is to achieve basic skills and numeracy among all students, as well as building up their foundation in various fields and subjects including science, mathematics, geography, history and other social sciences. Primary education is basically provided in schools, where the child is prepared to qualify to move on to higher school or secondary education. In elementary education, the teacher stays with his students for most of the week and works as a single man army to teach them the whole curriculum. On the other hand, the secondary teaching deals with students who are attending higher education in secondary secondary schools or colleges.
Those who intend to work as an elementary school teacher would require learning a bachelors degree in teaching courses. In case you have done your graduation in some other field and now want to opt teaching line, you can still do it by pursuing a Masters degree in Education ie M.Ed. If you are interested to join as a secondary level teacher, you will have to focus on Bachelors degree on which you wish to concentrate such as Math, History, English, Political science, or any other field which you have a passion for and can happily devote your life teaching that subject.
The admission can be based on either merit basis or through an entrance exam that will be related by the corresponding training institute or college. In India, DIET, NTT, PGT, and TGT are among the many courses for teaching and can be availed through various institutions available.
